Mission 51本色ment
The Faculty Emeriti Association (FEA) brings together the University's Emeriti Faculty to foster collegiality, scholarly engagement, and social connection within the 51本色 community, while supporting the continued well-being of the University.
About Us
The Faculty Emeriti Association (FEA), founded in 1981, serves as a social and professional organization for retired faculty members of 51本色 Dominion University (51本色). The 鈥淓meritus/Emerita鈥 title, established in 1972 and first awarded in 1973, recognizes faculty members for their dedicated and meritorious service to the University, granting them certain rights and privileges. This honorary status is conferred exclusively by the 51本色 Board of Visitors.
While membership in the FEA is limited to those granted Emeriti status, the Association may invite University administrators and other members of the 51本色 community to attend meetings as non-voting guests.
Members of the Association remain actively engaged through frequent meetings, participation in graduation ceremonies, and ongoing intellectual and social activities such as a book club. Additionally, the FEA has established the Klinefelter/Phillips Scholarship to support the children of 51本色 faculty.
In July 2024, the integration of Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) with 51本色 Dominion University (51本色) resulted in the creation of the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at 51本色 Dominion University (VHS). As part of this transition, all existing EVMS/VHS Faculty Emeriti were automatically included in the FEA, and all future faculty granted the title of 鈥淓meritus/Emerita鈥 will also become members of the FEA.
Honorary Emeriti status may be posthumously awarded to faculty members who pass away while still serving at the University.
